Emerging, altering and underestimated aeroallergens on a changing Planet: Impacts on allergic diseases

The Task Force ‘Emerging, altering and underestimated aeroallergens on a changing Planet: Impacts on allergic diseases’ deals with a topic with high societal impact: how climate change affects our environment, the air we breathe and, in the end, our own health every day. By 2050, more than half of the Planet’s population is expected to have some type of allergy. Because of extreme events, e.g. heat waves, floods, thunderstorms, we are exposed to more and more harmful agents, like pollen and moulds, which can cause allergic symptoms. With this Task Force, we attempt not only to answer the fundamental question ‘to what allergenic airborne substances we are exposed and when, where and how much’, but also to identify the future risks for our own and our children’s health. Solutions, mitigation and dissemination practices will be recommended for the conservation of our well being and health.
