Following infection, a growing number of patients experience new or continuous symptoms that were not present before the infection. Due to research efforts worldwide, an inappropriate response of the immune system has been identified as one of the main causes for the development of post-infectious diseases. This task force will provide targeted information for the lay public as well as for health care professionals on novel disease mechanisms and updated clinical treatment modalities.
