Immunopharmacology: non-biological therapeutic approaches in allergy and clinical immunology
Immunopharmacology: non-biological therapeutic approaches in allergy and clinical immunology
The task force aims to establish a multidisciplinary group – physicians and basic scientists, pharmacologists, computational biologists – in order to:
review current basic, preclinical and clinical research underlying the development of therapeutic strategies for the treatment of allergic and autoimmune diseases mechanistically distinct from biologicals; examine and propose recent breakthroughs on basic mechanisms of immune regulation that could be targetable for the treatment of allergic and autoimmune diseases by different strategies (e.g. small molecule drugs; cell-based therapies; antago-miRs); describe the main opportunities and challenges associated with these therapeutic strategies, as well as the relationship with key biological-based approaches.
