Omic technologies in allergy research

Omic technologies in allergy research

Omics technologies constitute an essential tool in the research of precision and personalized medicine. The main focus of the Task Force “Omics technologies in allergy research” is to bring forward a deep understanding of omics utility in the elucidation of novel biomarkers, their potential in patients’ diagnosis. Moreover, we focus on the future advances in the field regarding the methodology, experimental setup, and biological samples election. In the first position paper prepared under the umbrella of this Task Force, we reviewed metabolomic, transcriptomic, genomic, and proteomic technologies and their use in allergy research. The Position paper is ready and is awaiting ExCom approval. We would like to continue our TF with preparing a second Position Paper, this time, focusing on applications of Omics Technologies in the clinics. We believe this will provide a useful tool for EAACI members, especially those involved with patients, to understand new methodologies and their application in daily practice. Also, it will disseminate the state of the art of these technologies in translational research.
